04 Jun 13 - 04:07 AM (#3522514) Subject: RE: Alan bell's song about the Cocklers of M From: GUEST,Chris B (Born Again Scouser) I remember starting a thread about the tragedy just after it happened. Horrible business. I started to write something myself about it just afterwards. I gave up on it for two reasons: firstly, I didn't think what I was writing was very good and secondly, after the first impulse to 'create' something in response to the tragedy had worn off, I felt somehow that it was tasteless to try and 'cash in' on it (not that I expected to make any money). Having said that, I haven't heard this song so I don't know what it's like. For me, though, Woody Guthrie's 'Deportees' pretty much says as much as needs saying about the situation of the people who perished at Morecambe and others in a similar situation. |

It's called simply 'The Cocklers' Song.'Wildgoose WGS412CD. No lyric detail in the liner notes but Giff's crystal diction will ensure you get the words loud and clear! 04 Aug 15 - 01:14 PM (#3728166) Subject: RE: Alan bell's song about the Cocklers of M From: GUEST,Tunesmith Alan's version will be very average, very predictable, and lacking that "it" factor that "On Morecambe Bay" contains. |
