(I probably resembled you Good Soldier Schweik in female form.) I was never robbed or accosted. I suppose my very fierce teacher expression may also have helped! |

Being typically vague, those reports don't really indicate it's much worse than in many other places, possibly because the local law enforcers have distracted by been busy with the recent new ban on "eating in public" to control those ugly tourists who snack on hotdogs from the courtyard vendors. It's probably true, because they'll obviously target someone who seems to have something worth pinching. (In the case of the Ladyboys, one wonders what else they might be inclined to 'pinch'!) Anyway, at home or abroad, I'm sure you always look the picture of pleasing perfection! Eliza x By the way, when crossing borders in Africa, I found the border posts very dodgy places. The chaps who eventually stamped my passport invariably had a good rummage through my luggage, and once I had a new bottle of rather cheap perfume nicked. But generally they were crestfallen, as I only travel with the minimum of light, cheap clothing and twenty pairs of large, stout, thick cotton...er...items of underwear. Definitely NOT worth pinching! |
