In the book by Lewis Winstock, there is some sheet music of the songs. It is the key of F minor and uses chords: I IV V

Drop me a pm and I will send you Guitar annotated version

In the DT, it is in G minor (Gm, D7), the middle part (about the trumpet) goes to Bb major (Bb, F7). Best transpose it to E minor (Em, B7, G, D7), capoed if your voice is high.

I assume this is the text of which you are speaking?

From A Collection of Songs (Edinburgh: A. Donaldson and J. Reid, 1762), page 211:

    How stands the glass around,
Of which we take no care, my boys?
    How stands the glass around?
    Let wine and mirth abound,
    The trumpets sound;
The colours they do fly, my boys;
    To fight, kill, or wound,
    As you'll be found
Contented with your chear, my boys,
    On the cold ground.

    Why, soldiers, why
Should we be melancholy, boys?
    Why, soldiers, why,
    Whose business is to die?
    Why sigh then? fie!
Damn care, drink on; be jolly, boys,
    'Tis he, you, or I,
    Cold, hot, wet, or dry,
We're only doom'd to fall, my boys,
    We scorn to fly.

    'Tis but in vain,
I mean not to upbraid you, boys,
    'Tis but in vain
    For soldiers to complain;
    The next campaign
Sends you to him who made you, boys,
    Perhaps in pain;
    But if we remain,
A bottle and kind landlady
    Cures all again.

I put some chords to this song given its relationship to the recent Alexander Hamilton musical. Not 100% the same melody as the 1729 original, but close.

(my recording)

      Am
How stands the glass around,
      G                     Em7
Of which we take no care, my boys?
         Am
How stands the glass around?
    G                Em7
Let wine and mirth abound,
       C      G
The trumpets sound;
       G                          Em7
The colours they do fly, my boys;
      C             G
To fight, kill, or wound,
      C    G    Am
As you'll be found
      Am
Contented with your chear, my boys,
       Am G    Am
On the cold ground.
