In a Gallup tracking poll released Tuesday, former-President George W. Bush currently stands with a favorability rating of 49%, compared to 46% who see the 43rd president unfavorably. Meanwhile, another Gallup poll shows President Obama with only a 47% approval rating, with 44% disapproving.

It's easier to be remembered more fondly when you're no longer around. What were Bush's ratings when he held the office?

Popular with the brain-dead ignorant sonzabitches who elected that thin streak of shit in the first place.

Whoopee.

Breibart Bullshit in the second place.

Also whoopee.

Get a fucking clue, in the third place.

Not surprising. Obama's in office. He now serves the corrupt elite who really run things, not the hopeful public who voted him in. He's had some time to get a lot of people angry at him. It works much the same way with our politicians in Canada. They experience a brief wave of popularity in the naive "honeymoon" just after they're elected...people not yet realizing that once again, they've been had. After that, it's generally downhill most of the way, barring very unusual circumstances, like a 911 type attack. You'll recall that Bush's approval ratings went way up following that....and took some time to go back down again...as people began to realize once again that they'd been had.

Yeah, he's crapping on us now. And his banker bosses want him to go to war with Syria. Things won't get any better for him. I don't think he'll even finish his term. Maybe a resignation would boost his poll numbers.

Gallup has always had a conservative slant.   Polling always depends on who is polled--and the wording of the questions.

You can always pick out a low point in an administration.    Lots of folks on the Left are bitterly disappointed that Obama, as they see it, has not stood up for what he believes--and what they voted for. And obviously there are lots on the Right who never did support him--including but not limited to racists (contrary to the fondly held views of some Mudcatters, many people oppose him while still not being racists.)

But it's absurd to place any value on a snapshot--which is what one poll is.

It's premature for the Left--or anybody-- to write Obama off as a do-nothing.    He already has done a lot to change the US health system, among other things.   And there are plans for more--for instance it seems clear to me that he will in fact get a meaningful immigration overhaul through--probably by the end of this year. Partly since, as I've noted before, enough sensible folks in the GOP realize that the alternative is political oblivion for the GOP. But Obama, rightfully, will get the credit. And his polls will be up again.

I think his polls would also rise if he would take a strong stand against the northern part of the pipeline.   Let's see if this happens.

I think he will finish his term, SW. What I greatly fear is that he'll get directly involved in a war with either Syria or Iran before he does. I'm hoping he just muddles through and avoids those 2 calamitous possibilities.

Yes, as Ron says, polls are just a snapshot.

Subject: RE: BS: Bush now more popular than Obama

Check the link to the actual "poll". It appears the "question" was "Do you view the following people favorably or unfavorably?"
.
So obviously the disappointment on the Left, combined with the bedrock opposition on the Right, would give Obama a low number.

As I said, this poll is therefore meaningless.

For instance, if the election were again held, with Romney again as the nominee of the GOP, Obama would again win. Since there are enough on the Left who are not suicidal.

This thread deserves to die now.   Considering the originator, situation normal.

This is a good reason why the Koch bros. want to own as many tv, radio and newspapers they can get their greedy paws on. They know, as every dictator has known, that they can control the thoughts of the non thinkers if they can control the press.
Too many people need to be told what to think, and Fox noise is always glad to accommodate them.

If President Obama has a 47% approval rating from Gallup with more approving than not with the crapstorm that is happening now, if you support him that is a reason to celebrate. Of course 3 of the major "scandals" are just GOP crap disturbing, another is the Press claiming the "right" for people to criminally contact them without being investigated, the most recent one is being ginned up by the Press and late night comedy to make people think that the Government is listening to everyone's calls.

To me 47% means that there are a lot of people who aren't as stupid as Conan O'Brien and the people I heard on NPR over the past few days think they are.

Read what I wrote, SW.   Will you ever learn anything?   It seems doubtful.

The only poll that matters is the one that takes place about 4 Nov every 4 years.

All others are only fodder for political junkies-- and those who fancy themselves agents provocateurs (look it up--and perhaps you'll learn something, for once.)

Maybe Obama should lie to the world about another country's weapons capabilities and intentions and then start a huge costly war he can neither pay for nor finish.

I'll bet his approval ratings would just soar through the roof, wouldn't they?

Don't believe everything you read, especially this load of gutter sludge.

Give him time. Syria and Iran await. Lybia's already received "the treatment", but at a far lesser cost, and they're far worse off now than they were under Gadaffi...which is what normally happens when the West succeeds in achieving "regime change" somewhere where their business interests lie.

Should have been spelt Libya, right? ;-) Sorry about that. Well, we don't have to worry about Colonel Gaddafi launching a gold-based currency in Africa any longer, do we? The region has been made safe for US fiat paper currency, the "petrodollar", which isn't backed by anything real at all...other than military muscle, and the will to use it ruthlessly. You could call it the biggest ponzi scheme in history, because that's exactly what it is. The Federal Reserve prints trillions of dollars of worthless paper, and the USA gets REAL oil and other real goods for it from the rest of the world, which is cowed by USA military power...and deeply afraid of what would happen to the entire world economy if the dollar collapsed...which it would if the USA's debts were called.

Bush and Obama are just public figures. They didn't create the situation I'm speaking of (though they serve it), they're just temporary figureheads for people to focus on.

46% against Bush, only 44% against Obama.

Here's another way of looking at this...

With George "Drunk-Frat-Boy-Fuck-Up" gone from power there is a warm, fuzzy feeling knowing that he can not longer mess up our country with stupid wars and policies... I think we need to factor that into the equation... It also doesn't hurt that the screw up has enough sense to just leave us the heck alone and be content staying home painting pictures of his dog...
