My name is Therese McIntyre and I am a PhD researcher in songs and ballads at NUI Galway. I have an 8 part radio series beginning on Radio 1 this Sunday, 14 July at 7:00 PM for 8 weeks. It's essentially the chapter 1 of my thesis. Each episode explores various types of heroes in the song tradition - outlaws, women, sporting, etc., and a tremendous amount of people have graciously given of their time to participate - the Frances Black, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Eric Bogle, and a load of historians and other academics to boot. Am trying to spread the word as much as possible so feel free to share the AudioBook link to all and sundry..
