Sidmouth 2013: Y and F evenings

Many of you who go to Sidmouth will have dropped in on the evening singarounds at the York and Faulkner Hotel - unfortunately Rosie Daisley, who has run these sessions over the years cannot guarantee that she can come to the festival this year due to her domestic situation ( although she might be able to come for part of the week depending on things at home).

Rosie has asked Julia, myself and Taff to run things this year, so the evening singaround/sessions will go ahead as normal. The format will stay the same on the basis of "if it ain't broke...."

Will try to get there on the evenings I'm not scheduled for bench duty in the Anchor!

The York and Faulkner is on the Esplanade just along from The Newt.

A lot of us Kent folkies go there as it is a good session.. well run.

Looking forward to dropping in after evening concerts. Yes, good sessions, eclectic mix of stuff, where people listen to each other, and plenty of good humour too!

Sadly , my evenings are somewhat predisposed to being just over the road from the Y and F , but I may well at one of the morning sesions

As Rosie wasn't running the sessions, what gave her the right to complain about me ? TDL would have gone along more often id it wasn't for her. Our first time singing at Sidmouth was well received, people were joiningt in, and we would have stayed if it wasn't for her. So rude not to have spoken to me direct... no ... forget rude.... cowardly to take my man outside and tell him ! If you don't want joining in - don't sing chorus songs !

This does sound very strange and not like Rosie. Sounds like a misunderstanding. She's not one to object to audience participation--to say the least.

Sometimes, at singarounds,I've known people to join in not only with the choruses but also with the verses. Or sometimes play along with their instruments during most of the song(s). Sometimes even hitting the appropriate notes.

Such things are encouraged at the Lower Coke Winter Sings.

"...ALL are welome if they are entertaining."    This sounds like Rosie's attitude also.
