30 Jul 13 - 02:32 PM (#3543645) Subject: Sunnycamp 2014 From: mg I am trying to determine if there is enough interest in Sunnycamp to put it on this year...Would have to be third weekend in October I think...which is 18-20..I don't like it that late due to weather changing but that is probably the only time. I have not solved the problem of woodland creatures getting into the main lodge (rarely it seems). Mold issues also keep people away. Maintenance is an ongoing issue and they seem to want to wait until they can do everything at once which I disagree with. It is more rustic than other camps..bare cabins, unheated etc. But it is in a beautiful setting on Willapa Bay about 3.5 hours from Seattle and 3 from Portland..and 20 from Astoria but no one crosses the river from that direction it seems. Cost is about $55 or so. Food is standard camp fare. Weather can be beautiful or very wet that time of year. We have had some just grand music...so let me know soon so I can make some decisions. |

29 Aug 13 - 02:05 PM (#3554164) Subject: RE: Sunnycamp 2014 From: mg It has been confirmed for Oct 4-6. Cost for full weekend $55. Can be prorated for shorter visits, sleeping in nearby motel, etc. Small, friendly group of 20-30 people usually. Very rustic camp; has mold issues so be forewarned. Location is Nahcotta, Long Beach peninsula, WA state..near mouth of Columbia River. Draws a mix of people from Portland, Seattle, Victoria, Chehalis, Astoria, Port Townsend, etc. Shared cooking, but final cleanup will be hired out. About 3.5 hours from Seattle, 2.5 from Portland; Right on Willapa Bay. You can pm me for more details. If you drive a carload of people you can get in for free. Could someone please change title to Sunnycamp 2013 Oct 4-6, WA, USA Thanks. |
29 Aug 13 - 03:23 PM (#3554188) Subject: RE: Sunnycamp 2014 From: open mike This has "drawn" campers from California, too. I enjoyed this experience very much the year I came. I hope you get a good crowd this year. Any workshop topics on the table yet? Speaking of tables, will there be salmon served as other years...it is worth it just for the salmon! |
29 Aug 13 - 04:38 PM (#3554212) Subject: RE: Sunnycamp 2014 From: mg I just put in a call to my local fish resourcer...I think we have had it every year ??? Can't remember...when it is good it is unexcelled and I believe our expert fish cooker is coming again..Do try to make it Ms. Open Mike... If you can't afford the upcoming events like Getaway and Camp A. in B.C., this is for you because we are probably the cheapest camp..but don't have perfect facilities though. I say if you like camping, you will like Sunnycamp. If you like a bit of mold, you will like it. If you come I do not want to hear the word mold unless you want to say how nice it smells...mg |
