I'm a junior at ECU, and want to personally thank you (and your parents) for being a folkie. In this urban jungle of rap and hardcore music, we need more young folks like you to carry on the folk tradition to the next generation. And also it is so great that we all get to meet here at Mudcat, where we aren't made fun of for playing folk music, and things like "Railroad Bill" and "Rosin the Beau" and "The Mighty Quinn" are considered higher and nobler by far than such garbage as Marilyn Manson and Wu-Tang Clan that you hea other students and residents blasting in their cars. Live long & prosper! --Mbo (who's new battle-cry is "PUMP UP THE PIPES!"

I've been trying to learn to play it on guitar, but as I'm still pretty lousy at chord changes, I haven't quite gotten it. (I've only been playing for a month or so). I've been raised on a variety of music, from Steeleye Span to Led Zeppelin, so I've always had an appreciation for a lot of different things. Most people I know tend to toss folk out before they ever really listen to it, so it's nice to get to talk to people who are so knowledgeable and interested. Thanks Mudcatters! |
