Lyr Req: Lyrics for Paddy's Wedding

I'm transcribing a recording by John Galusha (Minerva, NY, 1949 field recording) and I'm having trouble getting the lyrics. This is a different song than that posted in 2003 by Jim Dixon. The refrain goes: Did-dle-ee-eye-dee, did-dle-ee-eye-dee Whack the fol-da lad-die-o, Say Did-dle-ee-eye-dee, did-dle-ee-eye-dee Whack the fol-da lad-die-o. Any help out there would be appreciated. Lynn

Can you please post the lyrics you do have?

I'm guessing I found the probable source you're listening to: http://web.plattsburgh.edu/files/3/files/PorterAudio.pdf - but I can't figure out how to get to the recording itself. Can you tell us how we can find it?

Joe - The recording is probably inaccessible to the general public. I'm working through Traditional Arts of Upstate New York (Canton, NY) on a project to transcribe all of MLPorter's field recordings. The vocal line on this track is pretty muffled, so I can only make out the occasional word. Lynn

Lynn - I've got the whole thing transcribed at home. Will send to you next week. Porter also transcribed this one herself and published it in an old New York Folklore Quarterly article called Peter Parrott and His Songs or something like that. It may even be accessible in the resources section of adirondackmusic.org
