hi Richard and linda. I was going to email you to see how you are getting on, but mislaid your info. I should have thought of asking tone deaf, but I see that as they and paul have been to your venture that its going well, pete.

Hi Pete, it is going well, but needs assistance from those of us that Richard can trust to boost the players numbers . When we went we were lucky enough to also have the excellent fiddler Barry Targett and his guitar playing and singing lady friend. That got the session off to a cracking start, and word is spreading, though slowly, as Richard finds more local clubs and pubs where the musos hang out. Can you help keep this thread live by posting on it occasionally please . Thanks. Sue.

To all our musical friends.... this is a great short break if you like sea, hills, trains, countryside, good food, good company, and excellent folk clubs and sessions.

Anyone who knows me and wants to travel to play at this session can make a long weekend of it and I'll put you up and show you around. Obviously that includes you Pete :-)

Mr Red, thanks for your interest. All details are as set out in the Minehead Music and Musicians website - I got it right in my second post.

As for frequency, this is a new venture - first one was 11th August, second one was 15th September and this next one is 6th October.

When the next one is depends on how this one goes. The September one was heaving so it looks hopeful. I want it to be regular and frequent but watch this space .....

It looks like this (Sunday, October 6th), will be one of those afternoons that will be decisive in the future of The Quay sessions. I would urge anyone who can to get down there and support it . It's hard work being in Kent and trying to encourage some support for a gig in Somerset. Having experienced it, I can tell you it is fun ! I'll put a link to your website, and this thread on the Friday Folk and Crayside website.

Richard,

Would love to make it, but I can't on the 6th as I'm getting ready for a trip to Moscow on the 12th and need all the time available.

I will try to stay in Devon one weekend that coincides with your session....I was planning to try and extend at least one of my midweek trips ito the weekend in the next few weeks. If I can organise it I'll def. get over to Minehead.

Rob, Happy to see you music or not, we'd find something I'm sure, but if it does coincide with one of my sessions so much the better!

Thanks for the links GF

Hi Rob. Did you pick up the link from O F F / Crayside ? Be good to know if it it is doing what I set it out to do. There's lots going on down that way, mostly across the moors in Devon though. Hope you get down there.

Can you p.m. Rafflesbear. er - bit difficult if he is a GUEST. But the regularity so far is not predictable. Which is how I post info. So let me know from my website when you decide on a formula. One formula I haven't coped with yet is 1st Monday (say) of month but alternating venues each month!

The ultimate aim is to go weekly and also to have sessions at other venues. Up to now the only sessions in Minehead have been on months where there is a fifth Wednesday - not exactly frequent.

There are undoubtedly lots of musicians in Minehead it's just a matter of finding them and persuading them to come out to play.

Sorry that you didn't get any Kent/London players this time, although rumour has it that you did very well on your own. Good to know that the session has taken off at last!
