There's a folk night at the Western Hotel in St Ives. Not really participatory. If you want to perform, you'd need to ask the MC. Standard of performance of those I saw range from quite good to interesting to bloody vile! If the seven kids from Newlyn turn up with their singer, they chatted throughout each performer - even their own singer (young female guitarist - sounded like Bjork on an off day). They soured what might have been otherwise enjoyable, but turned out to be a chore! |

Yes, I did once go to the Western Hotel one and found it to be somewhat lacking in talent and atmosphere! |
