Avril ran the Deal Folk Club for many years, and I will recall my occasional visits, and her friendly welcome, with great affection. I did not know her well enough to write an obituary, but think that her long association with folk music in East Kent deserves some recognition. Avril will be sadly missed by her family, her wide circle of friends, and itinerant musicians like myself. R.I.P. Avril |

She ran, in my opinion, one of the finest folk clubs in the south east, and it was always a pleasure to play there as well as hear her fine voice. I will be there this coming Friday and will remember her with much fondness. RIP Avril, you will be sorely missed. John Barden |

I don't do many sea songs, but really enjoyed other folks singing these. In summer conditions, the waves on the shingle were an excellent accompaniment, but in an easterly wind, the sash window had to be lowered quickly! This was Avril's club more than anyone's and she deserves a lot of credit for where it is today... R.I.P. |

The Deal club organised a concert in the cafe at the end of Deal Pier. The cafe was a structure of metal and glass - Crital type windows.In the middle of the concert the heavens opened, thunder, lightening, the works. The sea rushing in towards the beech. The band played on to a background as good as any laser show. Thank you Deal folk club. FloraG. |

It's been a while since I had been to the Deal Folk Club and had lost touch. She was without doubt a great singer in her own right and when performing a duet with Sue it was, I believe very special.
