I have just heard about the sad death of Steve Adamson a.k.a. BFB.

Steve was a brilliant whistle player,ex Treasurer of the Morris Ring, ex Custodian of the Morris Shop and lots of other stuff besides.

I first met Steve when he was playing in a band in Bradford called Wool Exchange in 1987.

Good bloke,I'll miss him.

JP2.

We couldn't agree more. Steve spent many Christmas Days with us and my memories are full of laughter and smiles like the year he turned up with a new bucket and mop for us all beautifully wrapped up in Christmas paper; or the party when we had three bodhruns playing as noisily as possible trying to wake him when he had dozed off (that was before he lost his weight) or the bonfire night when a rocket stick came hurtling back down and missed him by inches! We were so glad when he settled in his last flat having moved him three four or was it five times. I felt I knew his stuff better than he did. That whistle playing will be something for the angels to compete against now.

Too True.
Many happy memories including parties and helping re-build stuff around the farm.
I didn't know you were on Mudcat.

I believe that the Morris Ring are in touch with Steve's sister, so when arrangements have been made, we should get the information.

Geoff.

Steve BFB Adamson, who you may know as the Keeper of the Morris Shop, Ex Treasurer of the Morris Ring, skilled whistle / pipe player for Boar's Head Morris and more recently Great Yorkshire Morris, or simply as Steve Adamson, all round good bloke, died of bronchial pneumonia last weekend.

Steve's funeral will be held at 2.40pn on Friday 13th December at the Nab Wood Crematorium (Bingley Rd, Shipley, West Yorkshire, BD18 4BG). Dancers and musicians are asked to wear full kit and the funeral will be followed by a gathering at the Brown Cow, Bingley (BD16 2QX) where there will be a plentiful supply of Yorkshire Tea and the opportunity to dance, play and sing in celebration of Steve's life and contribution to the Morris and wider folk world.

The family have requested no flowers please but will welcome donations to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

To assist with the arrangements Morris Sides and Individuals who are able to attend are asked to inform the Bagman of the Morris Ring. (bagmanatthemorrisring.org)

Good to see so many people there to celebrate him.    Sad and funny. He'll have laughed at us getting soaked in the rain.    He always brought a smile to my face, my life was better for knowing him.   Top bloke. RIP old chum.
