Just watched this show, I'm not a fan of Sting but this was excellent, the songs, the musicians, Kathryn Tickell, Jimmy Nail and The Wilsons were superb, in fact all the musicians and singers were good, who would have thought it, Sting, not afraid to tell it how it was in the language of the real people, well done.

Agree with everything that has been said, i feel it is a must for folkies and non folkies to watch, the characters that he created were so full of life, that you felt you knew them, and the portrayal, by all the singers together with the excellent musicians was first class.

Cheers

Got the album on my iPod for my birthday, so I have been enjoying it in the car for last few weeks. I recorded the TV program and I agree, it was a superb show. It was interesting to see the one of the songs that has really grown on me, "Practical Arrangement", didn't make it to the play.

Boy done goood, he's come of age. This is a worthwhile project but I've already sensed 'Police' fans are confused and dont get the idea !! poor sods.

Ordered the CD then discovered there are 3 differring ones and the song I was very taken by was the Duet of pract arr. Both versions are on the one I've got coming

Thought his guitarist was waste of space and his MD wanted to be noticed

Wilsons were permitted to do a 'solo' which I dont think has any bearing on the show, perhaps Sting was wanting a break !but for me it was a token gesture to let them sing good as they maybe.

can someone confirm who the female singer was please, was she the Unt'anked

It can still be seen on the BBC i player till the morrow.

A strangely carping take on the show, Breezy? I think we can assume the Wilsons were happy to be part of it. But to answer your query, the female vocalist was Jo Lawry.

When I saw Sting's Christmas programme (last year?) I was very conscious of his mid-Atlantic accent but in this show he stuck to his local accent, which I think worked very well.

We were over in New York to see the show which was everything and more that it looked on this programme. As a Sting fan I would like to say that the contribution of the Wilson Family to the show was outstanding and well worthy of their own song spot.
