I don't mind mixing it up but having a resident hater just kinda makes things less fun.. No, make that no fun... I'm doing fine... My "Intro to Drawing" class is going well... I'm performing... Gettin' some quality (for me) gigs... The P-vine has just had her 4th surgery related to breast cancer... The implant she had last time blew up... She has just had a reconstruction, using all the fat the she had in her tummy, transplanted up top... That was last Wednesday... It's going well... Other than that, I'm still me... I love a lot of ya'll... You know who you are... I dislike a couple of ya'll... You know who you are... Nothin' new there... 03 Feb 14 - 08:51 PM (#3598075) Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: GUEST "As you will use a handle when you feel like it? I do not care what you think. You have a real name but you don't use it either. You are Jack the Sailor and I am Guest. You don't have to like it, but no one is asking you to, least of all me. |

How'd you get on with the drawing classes? Funnily enough, after doing my MA and having my head stuffed full of conceptual crap, and after 12 months getting it out of my system, I've just taken up my brushes again and am not far from completing a PAINTING! Well, four, actually. Me and an erstwhile fellow student, full length, on 4 sheets of 46x34cm paper. Bit slow and rusty with the ol' watercolours, but it's coming back... The shit that gets posted here is just like the shit on the TV. Don't watch it. Especially if POTUS is in the thread title. |

Hooray... I've gotten pretty good at nursing and cooking and cleaning and driving and, and... Had a great gig last night in uptown Charlotte at the Myers Park Library... Very intimate with about 30 folks in the audience... It was more a blues workshop as in the 1 hour program it was half music and half stories... Sold half a dozen or so CDs... Another CD??? Nah... I think I'm done recording 'um... They are fun but, hey... They are a lot of work, too... Lastly, the drawing class... I have 7 students, age 14 to about 65, and I'm working 'um pretty good... I knew I was going to teach it when I was at an estate sale and the drug an old "Sears" bike out of the barn... Probably late 1940's... So I bought it for 5 or 6 bucks and told the class that I would be bringing in a model on the 3rd class named Samantha Sears who would be modeling sans the clothes... Had the bases loaded with them... They really thought it was going to be a nude model... They are enjoying Samantha... B~ |

06 Feb 14 - 01:34 PM (#3598902) Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Charmion I worked as a life model when I was in university. The gig paid relatively well (for a university job), but I found it both chilly and tiring. Also, the students complained that my eyes don't match. Of course, that's one of the main reasons why the instructor hired me -- the other was my "matte skin". All in all, modelling is a great way to feel like several dozen body parts flying in close formation. |

06 Feb 14 - 03:41 PM (#3598934) Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Bat Goddess Hey, Charmion...did I know that? Back when I was a hundred pounds younger I modeled for two drawing groups, one in Kennebunkport, the other in North Berwick, Maine (Pat and Dewitt Hardy, Lincoln Perry, George and Dadee Burke...). Tom's and my "first date" was to a show at Mast Cove gallery where all the drawings were of me...starkers. A friend of mine went through massive problems and aggro with her breast reconstruction. Wish P-Vine the best! Linn |

07 Feb 14 - 08:26 AM (#3599093) Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: frogprince Linn, that reminds me of somethin'. Thirty years ago I was a member of a camera club in Chicago for several years. One evening one of the woman members brought in the only photo of a full-frontal nude male that anyone ever remembered being entered in competition. Shortly after that she married the model. It always amused me a little, just because of the switch from "traditional" artist-model narratives. |

07 Feb 14 - 11:21 AM (#3599171) Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Bill D I did 2 nights as a model for a drawing class 50 years ago. As Charmion says, it was tiring and cool. They made male models wear the tiniest of briefs.. (it WAS Kansas!).. which made me feel 'nuder'. I only had 2 sessions because they said the students found most male bodies to be too 'easy' to draw.... too many straight lines. (They paid $5 an hour, which was a good wage back then... more than I was making at the grocery store.) (and Bobert... give your lady the best wishes from Rita & I. I am really glad we had the pleasure of meeting her several times.) |
