They avoid the abrasive feeling and raspy sound that round-wound strings make as you slide your fingers up and down the fingerboard, but they deaden the bass strings when you play unplugged. |

They certainly reduce finger noise and will be less painful than regular strings. They are a good choice for a beginner. Try a set. |

There was a tip recently on another thread that suggested that we file grooves in the pin holes to accommodate the strings, the strings would then be anchored at the underside of the top, instead of pulling on the bridge. I'm going to do that next time I change my strings. |

They seemed very stiff, or as Will Fly says tighter. Also tried round wound that are then ground flat after making so giving a flat string surface but round-wound flexibility. Had forgotten them till now as I've long stuck with Daddario Phosphor Bronze normal round wound. (Gurian guitar originally came with them) |
