At any rate, I was there quite a few years ago - 8, maybe? We stayed at pretty well the most western village on the island (Dooah?) and spent our nights at Geilty's Bar. It had just built a big hall on the back of the pub and it had 'dance hall' kind of entertainments but, around 1 a.m., a few young trad musicians showed up and played til the wee hours. Not sure what it's like now. The real charisma of the place was provided by old Mr Geilty but he was passing the reigns over to his son. Anyway, it's worth checking out. sian |
