As part of the "TradFest" series of events in Edinburgh, between 29th April and 11th May, a one-day series of workshops is planned to "Explore and develop ways of playing Scottish traditional music on the flute, covering different styles and tunes, technique, decoration, breathing, phrasing, tone production and history".
Full details from the website below :

There are 3 tutors :

Gordon Turnbull [ Edinburgh ] - "simple-system" flute
Sharon Creasey [ Glasgow ] - Boehm system flute
Kenny Hadden [ me ] [ Aberdeen ] - "simple-system" flute

It should be an interesting, and busy day. We hope to arrange a session somewhere on the Saturday night, and maybe even beforehand on the Friday. All are welcome - hope to meet some of you there.

I doubt any of this will feature:

since the current trend is to ignore the history of Scottish traditional flute playing and invent an entirely new approach based on jazz and post-WW2 Irish models, but anyway it's there (and free) if anybody wants to use it.

Actually, Jack, you're quite wrong there. I've had your CD-ROM for years now, and am very grateful to the work you put in to that, as it made me start looking through the old collections. I've been teaching several tunes from "Aird's" collections to my flute class in Aberdeen for a few years now, and might never have been aware of that collection, and others, if I hadn't picked up your CD_ROM and found out about the Wighton Collection in Dundee.
Many thanks for that, Kenny
