THAT'S WHAT HIS LOVE CAN DO
Traditional
Learned from the singing of The Thomas Family Band on "The Condition of Your Heart."
Adapted, edited, arranged, verses 3, 5 © 2014 Susan O. Hinton for The Good News-Goodtime Band.

REFRAIN:
It can lift you up when you're feeling blue.
It can part the clouds, let the sun shine through.
It can bring you peace that you never knew--
That's what His love can do.
That's what His love can do.

1. It redeems the promise of a brighter day,
And it wipes the stain of our sins away.
It brings life eternal for me and you.
That's what His love can do.

2. Oh His love can push the mighty seas aside
Yes His love* can steer us o'er the strongest tide
Oh His precious love can move a mountain, too!
That's what His love can do.

3. It can walk the floors when a baby cries
And provide a reason when we don't know why.
It can show your purpose as you journey through.
That's what His love can do.

4. Oh His love can comfort you in times of trial,
Yes His love* can lead you through the long hard miles
Oh His precious love can yield the stars on you.
That's what His love can do.

5. At the end of day, love, as the sunset nears
It can whisper the name only you can hear.
It can call you home to your family true--
That's what His love can do.

a few interesting turn of phrase....any idea of what"....yield the stars on you" means?

The starry crown for the believer? If God can "shed his Grace on thee," I suppose it's a mixed metaphor... the yield for bringing in a crop of sheaves might be stars.

I MAY have misheard it when I transcribed but don't think so. Of course a lyric that makes folks keep wondering after they sing it is not such a bad thing once in awhile! ;-)

BTW there is another song on their CD where the author attribution is not specified, like this one was not given. I did later find a potential author source for that one and it would be great to get one on this song too. As the Band's career takes off I hope they'll get the song research piece figured out. But more and more these days I'm just grateful to get to hear the songs at all, and sing 'em so they live on, and this is a good one.

My BAD!!! We were working on the arrangement, with the song played in slowdown mode, and guess what popped out:

Oh His precious love can heal the scars on you.

PRINT!
