Just discovered an excellent blog on American Folk music, complete with field recordings and entertaining, informative commentary. Really an excellent source. Check it out at http://blogs.loc.gov/folklife/about/

Excellent find, Dick. I can see I'm going to lose a lot of time on that blog.

You've done it again, Dick. I never would have known of this. (Just check out the categories for starters!) Thanks.

Now that's the kind of sugar papa likes, as Humphrey Bogart might have said.

Almost the first thing I found was a recording of Billy Wells, the legendary Bampton Morris fiddler, with the following label:

"The Rose Tree. William Nathan Wells, Bampton, Oxfordshire, England
James Madison Carpenter Collection AFC 1972/001 Cylinder 110."

For anyone wanting to check it out, click on the England tag and scroll down the page apiece.
