I have most of the lyrics to this song. I am wondering if the first verse is complete, however. It goes like this:

BUNDLIN
As recorded by Sean Keane on "A Portrait: Best of 1993-2003"

1. My name is Willie Reilly; in Dublin I was born,
And for my bad behaviour I was forced to cross the foam.

CHORUS: With me bundlin on my shoulder, my shillelagh in me hand,
For to ramble the bushes of Australia like a true-born Irishman.

2. The wind being in our favour, we raised our sails with glee,
And we gave three hearty cheers, me boys, going down the Irish sea.
We gave three hearty cheers, me boys, going down the Irish sea,
And on the eleventh day of April we landed in Port Magee. CHORUS

3. And when we reached old Melbourne, the ladies danced with joy.
Says one of them to the other: "Here comes that Irish boy."
And some they drank from glasses and some they drank from cans,
And we sang and danced all round the house to the health of this Irishman. CHORUS

4. Says the mother to the daughter: "I cannot understand
Why you're going to wed this Irish boy all the way from Paddy's land."
Says the daughter to her mother: "Sure I'll do the best I can,
As I ramble the bushes of Australia with my true-born Irishman." CHORUS

Would anybody know of a different version of the first verse? The other verses all have 4 lines before going into the chorus. The first verse just has two lines and then "With me bundlin, etc."

Lyrics look good CET. A few disagreement with the possessive pronouns in stanza four, but nowt that is of great concern. What a beautiful voice he has.

That's how Sean sings it alright. I was wondering if there might be a different version of it out there somewhere. I agree about the voice - my favourite of all Irish singers. It's not just the quality of the sound, it's it the way he shapes the lines and makes every single word sound just right.

Spotify has 3 recordings of BUNDLIN:

Sean Keane, on "A Portrait: Best of 1993-2003"

Dominic Kirwan on "Echoes of Ireland"

Annmarie O'Riordan on "Harmony Handed Down"

They all sing nearly identical lyrics.

By the way, the lyrics were posted in January, 2000 by Mbo here.
