I attended Irish Fest about 25 years ago. I have good hearing, and I found that when close to a band, the sound was too loud. But if I moved away from the stage, the sound of other loud bands intruded, so that I was hearing two bands at once. Another problem was that the main-stage bands turned their volume up so high, they interfered with smaller acts. I have relatives in Milwaukee, and we talk about Irish Fest when visiting. I don't believe these problems have ever been solved. One factor is that the festival is held right on the shore of Lake Michigan (take a sweater). The air is humid and heavy, and sound men don't compensate for its greater effectiveness in carrying sound. |
