War Horse - UK tour

If you're considering going to see this stage show, I can thoroughly recommend it.
I went to keep my wife company, as I know she enjoyed the film.
The 'puppetry' (and I demean it by that term) was fantastic (and not just the horses).

The accompanying music (arranged by John Tamms) performed mainly by a soloist with accordion (and at one point harmonica) made the trip worthwhile on its own.

Last night was the opening performance for Cardiff.
Home page for the tour is Here

Can thoroughly endorse that too. It was in Edinburgh for several weeks earlier this year, with Bob Fox doing the singing. Has to be one of the best theatrical productions I have ever seen. My only reservation re the music was that we never got enough of each song, but not being just a "folk" audience, I guess a lot of people there would not know the songs as well as I did!
I read somewhere that they were phasing out live musicians and using recordings which would be a shame if true.

They have phased out live musicians, but only in the orchestra pit ..which doesn't make it much better, of course. There will still be the live performances on the stage itself. Such a shame that the orchestra players have been dispensed with.

We're off to Cardiff on Monday - looking forward to it.
