The original song is very short, fyldeplayer - mostly instrumental. Can you post what you have so we can try to help from there? I couldn't find an online recording by Roaring Jelly. Can you point one out?

Looks like the original recording of this song was by Jack Hylton and His Orchestra. Here's a recording he did in Berlin in 1930:

Here's a recording by Gaylord and Holiday:

There's mention of the Roaring Jelly recording at mainlynorfolk.info.

OH! WHAT A SILLY PLACE TO KISS A GIRL!
Words and music by Jos. Geo. Gilbert
As recorded by Jack Hylton and His Orchestra, 1930.

Johnny Dove was mad in love with little Mary Brown.
Ev'ry night at eight,
By the cottage gate,
He would meet her and he'd greet her with a hug or two,
Then he'd kiss his little miss upon the avenue.

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
What a silly place to kiss a girl!
Once in the parlor, twice in the hall—
He even kissed her on the garden wall.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
Her poor brain was in a whirl.
His face lit up like a torch.
Then he kissed her on the porch.
What a silly place to kiss a girl!

There's a line in the song "Annie McKelvie" which goes "we parted last night with a kiss on the doorstep" - I always get this image of the guy bending down to kiss the doorstep!

Apparently girls respond quite positively to being kissed "Underneath The Arches"...

At least that's what my wife kept saying before she divorced me....???

The other two verses (or one and a half) and coda areare:

Said Johnny Dove "Oh my love let's have a jolly time,
And off to Brighton, we, must go upon a spree".
So off they went, pleasure bent, to get new atmosphere
And then he pressed he to his breast and kissed on the pier.

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
What a silly place to kiss a girl!
Down at the seasode love gave its heat
He even kissed her on the sunny beach.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
Her poor brain was in a whirl.
And when it was raining hard he kissed her on the promenade.
What a silly place to kiss a girl.

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
What a silly place to kiss a girl!
She had a Rolls Royce, pained blue and green
He loved to kiss her on her limousine.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
Her poor brain was in a whirl.
And when she took him for a ride he kissed her on the countryside.
What a silly place to kiss a girl.

What a silly place to kiss her
Should have kissed her on the kisser
What a silly place to kiss a girl!

A different song with a similar theme. I have omitted most of the patter from the following transcription:

THAT'S A FUNNY PLACE TO KISS A GIRL
As recorded by Gaylord & Holiday – from YouTube:

1. That's a funny place to kiss a girl,
I said: a very funny place to kiss a girl.
I said to her: "Dear,"—right in the station—
"I'd like to see your destination.
Farewell, farewell, my own true love.
I will send you lovin' letters every day."
I said goodbye and tipped my hat.
I kissed the girl right where she sat.
That's a funny place to kiss a girl!

2. That's a funny place to kiss a girl.
I said: a very funny place to kiss a girl,
And if you're swimming on your vacation,
Don't practice artificial respiration.
Farewell, farewell, my own true love.
I will send you lovin' letters ev'ry day.
I said to her: "Now you be true."
Then I kissed her; hootchie koo!
That's a funny place to kiss a girl.

3. That's a funny place to kiss a girl.
I said: a very funny place to kiss a girl.
Her eyes grew bright and began to friction.
I plainly showed my— [SPOKEN:] Your job is hangin' by a thread! Sing it!
[SUNG:] Farewell, farewell my own true love.
I will send you lovin' letters ev'ry day.
I kissed her face, her cheeks, her neck.
Then I kissed her; what the heck!
That's a funny place to kiss a girl.
One more time!
That's a funny place to kiss a girl.

Like the preamble that Jackie & Bridie used to do, for a song that included the line 'I'm Dreaming of Her Yet.' They wondered what part of her body was a Yet, and supposing it must be the same part specified in the line 'I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now.'
