04 Jul 14 - 04:10 PM (#3639117) Subject: Fairlop Fair From: Jack Campin The first Friday in July is Fairlop Fair in Hainault Forest, Essex: http://www.hainaultforest.co.uk/3Fairlop%20Fair.htm where a great number of people meet in a riotous and tumultuous manner, selling ale and spirituous liquors and keeping tippling booths and gaming tables to the great encouragement of vice and immorality. 18th century Essex Man, it seems. Anybody know more about the 19th century songs mentioned there? |

I don't know if Fairlop Waters is on the site of the oak but it is close enough to Fulwell Cross for the bacon and beans to be able to arrive hot. |
