No room at the inn at Bromyard?

We had thought it would be fun to take in Bromyard Folk Festival next year before going on too Cardiff for a couple of matches at the Rugby World Cup, and then back to Canada but I have just got an email from one of the two likely hotels in Bromyard informing me that they are already booked up for next year's folk festival. Camping isn't an option, and we will need to be within reasonable walking distance of the festival. I'm hoping the World o' Mudcat will have some bright ideas, but it's looking like Bromyard next year isn't a viable option for us.

the tourist information centre was part of the library not sure now -
this is them found on line +44 1885 488133 ring them and see what they come up with. They deal with people who don't list on websites.

The Hop Pole were advertising cheap accommodation but last year that turned out to be indoor camping, several bodies in one large room.
Most searches only come up with the Falcon (very nice) the Hop Pole and the Crown and Sceptre and the Bay Horse but the Holly Tree is even closer to the festival. Give those a try as well. but at this date it isn't going to be easy. The tourist Info will be helpful though their opening hours are tied to GMT+1. Yellow Pages with distances
There may be some B&B still offering. But hotels are few anyway.

If you make it - even for one day - say hello. If you see me - you will know its me. The festival site is a good walk from the town, but there are sessions and a parade on the Fri night.

You say camping is not an option - Would the loan of a tent etc make it any better ??

Thanks for your kind offer Terry, but the tent is only part of the problem. We won't be carrying air mattresses and sleeping bags either.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

blickie for the link above with address it is about 3 times as far out of town as the festival site and doesn't look to be suitable for the B&B equivalent. There is a similar site on the main road past Bromyard, right at the lowest point. Basically mostly residential "trailers" (aka caravans).
Tourist information centres will (for a percentage fee) ring round and find (subject to availablity) for you and they will have a list of ordinary people who do it on an ad hoc basis - especially for the festival.

Most are a long way out of town. the one in Bringsty and the Wicton Farm self catering are both a short Taxi ride. Otherwise the link shows suggestions already made or excellent, if more distant, places. Sounds like the Queens Arms might work if you are quick. & here is the (map)

Well it turns I gave up hope prematurely. The tourist information folks put me on to a very nice looking B&B two miles from the festival and I contacted them just in time to reserve a room.

I will keep my eye out for you Mr Red. I'll likely be the one wearing an old red rugby shirt (either Wales or Canada).

We only want to visit the town, play in a few pub sessions ( I'm still fired up from sessions in various venues and performing on the "Singing Train" at Bunkfest !!) etc .   HELP !!

The festival has a free car park in the field opposite the campsite/Festival site. Scroll down to the 3rd map. Only a few minutes walk into town. Or there is a Pay-and-Display at the other end of town (near the Conquest Theatre on that map).

OK, a year has passed, just like that... and Bromyard festival is next weekend.

I'll be stewarding, hoping to take part in Tuneworks sessions and singarounds, and to meet up again with CET and Charmion.

It's a good few years since I've been, but I remember good sings in the football(?) club and beer tent, and in the Hop Pole, considerable amounts of mud, but not much else.

Anyone care to enlighten me on what else to look out for, and - who else is going?   Enough to arrange a Mudgather?

I see that a great number of excellent morris sides will be there- so I assume there will be lots of fringey stuff going on in the pubs and in the town generally?

Getting excited now :)

Don't all shout at once!

Sun forecast for Thursday, cloudy Friday, then wet for a week...

There is usually music in most of the pubs, sometimes if you stand in the Rosie you can hear several sessions at once. And an official lunchtime 'English tunes' session in the Falcon on Sat & Sun.

Thanks Mo, so maybe there will be no room at the Inn if the pubs are full of musicians? :)
