On third Mondays in August (18th), September (15th) and thereafter from November at The Goat Major The Goat Major, 33 High Street, CF10 1PU (phone 02920 337161). Starting at about 8pm, this will be an informal round-the-room session, totally acoustic, where all musical forms are welcome, but especially folk (traditional and "in-the-tradition") and participative (e.g. choruses and refrains). Bring your instruments of choice, although expect quite a lot of unaccompanied stuff, too. And on fourth Tuesdays in August (26th), September (23rd) and thereafter from November at The City Arms The City Arms, 10-12 Quay Street (phone 02920 641913). Both venues are "proper" pubs serving an excellent range of hand-pulled beers and suchlike and both a short stroll from Cardiff Central train station, up towards the castle. Might be able to pick up future events though. Interesting choice of dates, as there will be occasions (roughly one month in 7) when the fourth Tuesday will be the night after the third Monday. An upstairs room: really very nice and perfect for the purposes. Carrying on into 2016 in the best of health! It was delightfully almost but not quite too full for its inaugural first meeting in the new premises. Just near the museum, which seems rather appropriate :-) |
