Have any of you got some or tried some? What's your opinion |

29 Aug 14 - 05:38 PM (#3655039) Subject: RE: Fagersrtom Technopipe From: GUEST,MD I have a set of Swayne G student pipes and a Fagerstrom French/NSP, which is not one of the normal combinations, Anders who makes these, set this up for me at no extra cost. The French setting is excellent for quiet practice and getting a tune under the fingers. It has really increased the time I spend practicing without annoying the family/fellow travellers and campers. I do get some odd looks though! I find them very responsive and easy to use. Changing modes can be a bit fiddly but to be honest I do not do that much and leave them in French G for most of the time. |

I had a Deger for a while and got rid of it because with skin as dry as mine, I couldn't make it work reliably, and not at all with normal mid-joint fingering - in ordinary Scottish weather it only worked with my fingertips. It was a pain having to use moisturizer all the time. (I have a picture on my website of me playing it around midday in midsummer in the ruins of the mediaeval university of Harran in Kurdistan - worked great there since it was 45 Celsius). |

There are some reviews on Bon Dunsire's forum - one mentioned exactly that if I recall correctly; he had a problem with Deger but not Fagerstrom wrt sensitivity. I have not found anything more portable than the Fagerstroms and the support is excellent. Sound is just like on the website samples - a bit electronic to be honest but only you can hear it and it does the job! There is a midi output and software at additional cost but I have not tried it. Can you set Deger up for French (ie Swayne Border pipe) fingering? I have set my Fagerstrom up as a D set to see how that goes with some tunes - worth trying before I order another real set! I think it may help me avoid the upper octave in G at times - OK at home but not 100% reliable yet. And a D (real)set does sound nice! |
