03 Sep 14 - 01:22 AM (#3656333) Subject: Need help identifying song From: GUEST,lora My mum used to sing a really nice song but my brother and I can only remember a couple of snippets from the chorus. They were "Aye, aye, aye, aye, sing bane sorrow....gladdens the morrow" The tune is the Mexican song "Cielto Lindo" but the words are different. I've spent hours on the net searching for it but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. |

I looked all over, and couldn't find your song. But maybe somebody else will help. Keep checking this thread over the next few days. Joe Offer, Music Editor joe@mudcat.org |

03 Sep 14 - 06:30 PM (#3656723) Subject: RE: Need help identifying song-tune is Cielito Lindo From: Steve Gardham In the 50s charts there was an English language version of the song which was very popular, but it may have just been called Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay. Worth looking through the chart hit lists for that period. The only bits that I can remember are 'We go together like peaches and cream and we are most wonderful people.' It may have been translated from the Spanish. The tune was so popular at one time in Britain that it was adopted as a football terrace chant and can still be heard on the terraces. |

The chorus was something like: You, me and us: those are my favourite people We both go together like peaches and cream Or bells and a church and a steeple. |
