Lyr Req: Palomita - 'Little Dove'

Does anyone have the words and perhaps music/chords for a (I think Spanish/South American) folksong (perhaps 'Little Dove') I was taught at school. The only lines I can recall are: 'Pamolita we'll wander together, in the vale where the oranges grow.' Thanks Jeff

I saw a reference to it in Google books but the only line quoted was "Juanita we'll wander together in the vale where the oranges grow."

Any chance the word Pamolita is misspelled?

Should be Palomita.

Since "paloma" means dove, and "palomita" means little dove, I'd assume a typo.

Palomita we'll wander together,
in the vale where the oranges grow.
Little dove in the warm summer weather,
we shall nothing but happiness know.
There are heavens all azure and .........with flowers
abundantly and....entwining.
Palomita we'll wander together
in the vale where the oranges grow.

(the ... indicate the words I cannot recall.
I am looking for the 1950's Songbook that had this song in it but can' t recall the name of it.

Oh, so glad to see someone looking for this song.We learned in the early 50s. The song has special significance for me. My dad heard me singing while I washed dishes, hurried down out of the attic to hear such a lovely song.

I hope to see an update, soon!

Well, there's a Mexican folk song collected by Manuel M Ponce:

Palomita, vamos a mi tierra,
Y seremos felices los dos....

the same tune, perhaps?

Palomita
We'll wander together
in the vale where the oranges grow
Little dove, in the warm summer weather,
we shall nothing but happiness know
There the heavens all azure are shining,
and flowers abundant are bright are entwining

Thanks for the link, Guest. I've made a MIDI file of the tune and will send it in for posting here. Then maybe someone can make an ABC of it.

I've got the MIDI link in leeneia's message above. Here are the lyrics that correspond to her MIDI:

Palomita
Language: Spanish (Español)

PALOMITA

Palomita vamos a mi tierra,
Y seremos felices los dos,
Gozaremos lo que un_alma_encierra,
Y_estaremos en gracia de Dios.

¿Por qué quiero de ti separarme?
Tengo_otros amores,
tengo_otros consuelos.

Palomita vamos a mi tierra,
Y seremos felices los dos.

¡Palomita.

(English Version by Aura Kontra)

Little dove, let us fly to my homeland,
We'll be happy as happy can be.
We'll enjoy living there in contentment,
And your dreams you can share with me.

How can I leave you here far behind me?
My life would be lonely without you beside me.
Little dove, let us fly to my homeland,
We'll be happy as happy can be.

But the song I posted isn't very close to the requested song, "Pamolita we'll wander together, in the vale where the oranges grow."

It looks as though
the requested English
might be a sung translation,
the sort that fits the meter of the lyrics and music,
that fits the rhythms,
rather than exactly translating the meaning of the Spanish words.

I wondered that, too, Keberoxu - I don't see any oranges (naranjas) in the Spanish, but sometimes "translations" of songs are a far cry from the original.

Oops. Today I started putting chords on the MIDI I made, and there's a problem with it. It sounds fine, and if you want to listen to it to learn the tune, it will work. But now it looks like the first two notes should be pick-up notes, because so far, the chords fit better that way.
