On BBC today, Scientist from US claims that human head transplants are possible now and the operation will be performed within 2 years.

Interesting subject for discussion.....is anyone that important? is it ethical, Frankenstein science?

No fighting or personal attacks please.

Not available for the common people - they've all been allocated to politicians who have been deemed to be in greatest need . . .

On BBC today, .....

The link is to story from 2001. Obviously a slow news day!

I wonder whether they need living donors. Adds a whole new dimension to the corporate practice of head hunting...

Did you honestly not spot that the story is 14 years old?

If the news story is from 2001, the two years have passed. Are they now among us?

Worzel Gummidge, a walking talking scarecrow with interchangeable turnip, mangel wurzel and swede heads, came up with the idea many years ago. He could swop heads, such as his thinking head or his handsome head, to suit the occasion.

This is old hat(s). David " two-brains" Willetts has already had it done. It's just that he kept his old one, that's all. He found that it was the best way to get ahead in politics.

Some surgeons would likely try it, just to say it can be done, and to be the first.( the result may be a little like the Johnny Cash many year car parts song:)

Since the brain is mostly central to the human controls, it be more like adding a body? (Maybe, it could be considered an alternative to a sex change, not that there is anything wrong with that). I suspect the head portion would legally retain the identity?

"Don't go near old Wurzel this morning, and give him a wide berth" said Aunt Sally. "He was choosing which head to wear and he picked up the one on the far right."

"Thought so" said James. "I saw him tapping away on Mudcat earlier, and you can't always tell when he is wearing that head 'cos he posts as guest instead of Wurzel. Mind you, the silly old sausage; it's still obvious it's old Wurzel by what he writes."
