02 Mar 15 - 01:20 AM (#3690852) Subject: Oz band: Cat Empire international tour From: Helen Hi all, I bet you thought I was pushing up daisies or something because I've been absent from Mudcat for some time, but no: still alive & kicking! I was trying to find some Oz tour dates for the band called The Cat Empire because hubby & I missed the concert in our town last year due to financial over-cautiousness. We didn't think we could afford it, let's buy some of their CD's instead (we said) and now we've both been listening to the CD's and have become avid fans, and wish now that we'd hocked the silverware or something and gone to the concert. However, you lucky people, while Googling I discovered that The Cat Empire is embarking on an international tour in April 2015: The Cat Empire tour dates 2015 They will be performing in UK, Scotland, USA, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Holland, Spain, Denmark, & Portugal. The band is very difficult to categorise, very jazzy, funky, lively, clever, dance-y, and musically brilliant, IMHO. I think they compare well to The Specials, a British funky band. If you can go to the concerts, take a chance, you might have a great night, and even if you don't love the music, I think the band has an infectious happiness and raucousness. If you can't make it to a concert, check them out on YouTube or maybe even buy a CD. I know they aren't folk or blues, but they don't really fit any genre, I think. Helen |
