A grand St. Paddy's to you all. We have beer and Guiness Stew and after we will gather with old friends and sing a few teary songs, as we do every year.
Do you do anything special for the day ? What are your St Paddy's tradition ?
Hope you all have a joyous and lovely day!

Beannachti la Feile Padraig!

I'm going low-key this year, will sing a few songs and toast a few ghosts.   Spring has sprung and is kindly decorating the scene with shamrocks and daffodils and pear tree blooms, isn't that nice of it?

Booze, song and St. Pats. Substitute the USA reference for wherever you are from-maybe not the best singer, but an ok song:

St Pats. and song

it ain't grand, newp.

Having a very peculiar St. Patrick's day, as I work in an office that is directly behind the reviewing stand with announcer/judges for the Cleveland St. Patrick's parade. The groups marching in this year's event are numerous and ... odd.... "Divine Mercy" followed by Ronald McDonald. The Pipe fitters union, and the Burning River Roller Derby, Buffalo Soldiers and the Cleveland Asian Festival... all announced at earsplitting volume. We can't even see the parade this year because of the stand being between our windows and the street. By the by, where I work is rectory of the Catholic Cathedral.

If I hadn't needed to be somewhere else, I'd have tried out the "Sober St. Patrick's Day" party out in Avon - they've got one of the best uileen (my spell check doesn't do Irish) pipers in town playing there. Somewhere else tonight will be going to be with a friend in hospice. There will be a session going on there for sure - had to give 'im a bigger room for all the musicians who were coming to play there.

so I don't want to have a sniffle or even a bloody good cry, cause I want those I love to live forever and a day, and especially THIS day.

Irish-American love from Cleveland

I was the Grand Marshal of the second annual 'Shortest St. Patrick's Day parade in Virginia.' It's held in Clifton Forge, VA, and the parade route is 88 feet long - it goes from The Irish Inn, across Ridgeway street, and ends up at Jack Mason's Tavern, where pints of Guinness await the marchers. Great fun!

Watched The Secret of Roan Inish. What a gem of a movie.

Ireland = the emerald gem of the western world (set in the crown of a stranger)
Star of the County Down = the gem on old Ireland's crown

Aaah

And a lot of Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem and the High Kings and...
