BS: What I can't believe I did

It's been a week of odds and ends; a routine doctor appointment apiece, swapping out the art at the gallery, planning to spend some of the day today with the father-in-law at the care facility where he now resides...
When we saw him on Thursday, we took along subs for ourselves to eat while he had his lunch with the other regulars at his table. He asked us to bring one for him today, so we took that and also took a couple of his favorite things, sugar free apple pie and sugar free chocolate ice cream...
Yesterday afternoon it occurred to me that we should take along some Easter eggs, so I found some dyes in that cupboard and we did a few. Now, since my wife's extreme heart attack a couple of years ago, with a bit of brain trauma, it mainly falls to me to keep a little project like this on track.
Mid-morning today it hit me: we never boiled the eggs; I just opened the carton and dyed them raw. At least we didn't take them and hand him one to crack and eat...
Next question, sunny side up or scrambled...I was really looking forward to a couple of hard-boiled...

I'd say the yolk's on you... but it doesn't translate well in print.

Just leave the eggs around the house for several weeks and you'll know they've dyed.

Everybody gets distracted and makes mistakes. Today I made cracked-wheat bread and almost forgot to put the cracked wheat in. Like you, I caught the error before anything bad happened (like ruined bread.)

The thread title lead me to guess at an incident of the soiled trousers in public kind..

So you really got away with it quite lightly...😜

I once made a fruit cake to my usual recipe - thought it was a bit runny when I poured it into the tin - only when it was in the oven did I realise I'd left out the flour.

As a sort of fruity batter pudding, it wasn't too bad.

I've often said I prefer cake mix to the baked cakes.

With a bread machine there are six things to put in the baking tin - the stirring paddle, water, flour, yeast, salt, oil. I don't think I've ever forgotten to put the flour in but all the others at one time or another.

Years ago the missus was sick so I was assigned to do the weekly wash. I got my orders on how much powder, which programme to use and to be sure to keep whites separate, etc.
I followed her instructions to the letter.Easy peasy.

Alas, at the end of the cycle I opened the door of the washing machine to find I'd forgotten to put the clothes in.
Duh!

Suffice to say that it helps to open the package and put the condom on. (Not me, but a friend.)

when I were a lad, my grandmother did some eggs for us. I assume they were pace eggs. She wrapped them in onion leaves, tightly. Maybe the leafy tops were involved. But the result was a striated brown/egg coloured look. Hard boiled. Well boiled I think. She said that they would normally be painted. That is all I remember.
