There are a few parts I don't hear quite clearly, particularly "hunk of coal" and the mine/mines in the chorus. Anybody wanna take a listen and provide advice? CALL THE CAPTAIN (Graham Sharp) Call up the captain, tell him I ain't comin' in He can dig his own coal, something else is happening This living that I'm making is doing us in He's broken the lives of too many good men (up 4) C Em Am - (3x) G - - - Been hauling coal since I was big enough to fight Some 30-odd shifts without a glimpse of daylight The corporation likes to say that everything's all right Dig yourself a hole, get outta sight There's a dark cloud above me that's blocking out the sun Burn another hunk of coal, listen to the engines run One half is starving while the other's having fun So - call the captain (x4) _ _ Melinda _ close the door I ain't going down to the mines today I want clear blue skies & whole lot more I ain't going down to the mine C Em Am - G - / - - Am - / C Em G - / - - Am - There's a hole in this bucket I've been carrying around I fill it up to the top & watch it spill on the ground I go down to the mines & when I come back out I got nothin' to show but the sweat on my brow These hills are my own flesh & bones They're all that I love & they're all that I've known So please don't ask me to destroy my home I'm not gonna choose btw my heart & my soul, so Call up the Captain, tell him I ain't coming in He can dig his own coal, something else is happening This living that I'm making is doing us in So - call the captain (x4) (bridge) Hear the whistle blow this morning Hear the whistle blow today Hear the whistle blow this morning Am - - - / C - Am - / / Graham Sharp On Steep Canyon Rangers Lovin' Pretty Women https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M1BIwp8VzI |
