Can anyone assist with corrections and filling the gaps.
A lovely original song, with beautiful harmonies, by Pharis and Jason Romero. From their CD called 'A Passing Glimpse'.

                        LAY DOWN IN SORROW

The softest words that I'll ever hear
were ones you said to me
No love will live while I am here,
alone and always ----

Lay down in sorrow, Lay down and weep,
Lay down with God as you feel,
Lay down in sorrow, Lay down and weep,
And you will deliver yourself.

Now I am blue, sorrowed and glad
And I am burdened for you
And God has said that you are for me
so lay down as   ........    would do

When I die on the loneliest night
Close my eyes with you to die
I won't have used all the love that I could
For the waiting to want you for mine

Lay down in sorrow, Lay down and weep,
Lay down with God as you feel,
Lay down in sorrow, Lay down and weep,
And you will deliver yourself.
Lay down in sorrow, Lay down and weep,
And you will deliver yourself.

Here's how I hear it, via Spotify:

LAY DOWN IN SORROW
As sung by Pharis & Jason Romero on "A Passing Glimpse" (2011)

1. The softest words that I'll ever hear
Were ones you said to me:
"No love will live while I am here,
Alone in old Missouri."

CHORUS: Lay down in sorrow; lay down and weep.
Lay down with God as you feel.
Lay down in sorrow; lay down and weep.
You will deliver yourself.

2. Now I am both sorrowed and glad.
It's I am bad for you,
And God has said that you are for me,
So lay down as prayers would do. CHORUS

3. When I die on the loneliest night,
Close my eyes with a nickel or dime.
I won't have used all the love that I could
For the waiting I want you for mine. CHORUS

TAG: Lay down in sorrow; lay down and weep,
And you will deliver yourself.

Thanks heaps for the response, Jim.

I believe you are right with verse 1 and 3, on listening again.

I'm still not sure about the line " It's I am bad for you" though. (That could just be me not picking up things in a Canadian accent, but it didn't sound like 'bad' exactly.)

Anyone else know this song well enough to add something for that line or confirm Jim's word?

Thanks again, Jim, very helpful stuff!

Well, now I have the exact words, direct from Pharis and Jason Romero who kindly replied to my email, so I'd better set the record straight for these words:

The softest words that I'll ever hear,
Are ones you said to me:
"No love will live while I am here,
Alone in old misery."

Lay down in sorrow; lay down and weep.
Lay down with God as you feel.
Lay down in sorrow; lay down and weep.
You will deliver yourself.

Now I am both sorrowed and glad,
As I am but for you,
And God has said that you are for me,
So lay down as prayers would do.

When I die on the loneliest night,
Close my eyes with a nickel or dime.
I won't have used all the love that I could,
For the waiting to want you for mine.

Lay down in sorrow; lay down and weep,
Lay down with God as you feel.
Lay down in sorrow; lay down and weep,
You will deliver yourself.
Lay down in sorrow; lay down and weep,
And you will deliver yourself.
