Who Gave Me Barton/Para Crazy Quilt?

I recently came across a gift I may not have listened to until I was old enough to sing these songs (almost) right.

Who gave it to me?

Willing to bet it was the late Big Jim from Jackson, Susan. He gave me some of their stuff too.

Didn't know him though!

A really sweet man from Cape Girardeau, MO. He had an NPR radio show where he featured many artists like Para/Barton. (He played some of my stuff too!)

Hi Susan:
It might have been me. I've copied for a great many Folks, over the years, including a few Susan's. If I knew your last name, or location, I could say for sure.

The 'Jim' that Seamus mentioned, is my Old Friend, Jim Hickam. (Jim 'passed', a few years ago.

Cathy Barton and Dave Para, are Old Friends of ours, for many years - and just live a few blocks from us.

If so, thank you!

The whole CD is inspiring. I recently wrote about The Bramble and the Rose as a great rallying song for racial reconciliation. Will you let them know?

Be glad to, Susan. I'm sure that Cathy/Dave, and I, would like to read your 'writing', about 'racial reconciliation'. We sure need a lot of that, today.

How long ago? Would Sandy Paton have sent it, or somebody from the neighborhood of Folk Legacy?

Don, I lead the music for a weekly Saturday Night Service at our church, mostly acoustic, vintage, in all genres of gospel music. I'm hoping to use (maybe adapt a little) several of the songs off this CD if the artists don't mind. (And I always credit both authors and artists whose singing inspired me, in our little songbooks.) BTW, any relation to Madeleine Para?

The post about racial reconciliation is here: CLICK!
