See ZN2247 in the broadside ballad index at www.erols.com/olsonw for many copies including that in 'Pills to Purge Melancholy' which has one tune for it. Both early tunes are given as ABCs B156 and B157 on my website. Abby Sale contributed the Scots version from the Secret Songs of Silence MS long ago on this Forum "The Baker of the Town of Ayre". [Thanks to Murray on Saltspring, I now have a copy of the MS. Many songs, including this, will be given from the MS in his book 'Musa Proterva'.] |
