15 May 15 - 05:32 AM (#3709002) Subject: RE: Obit: BB King (1925-2015) From: Musket I have a Gibson ES. Doesn't suit my playing, can't use it in acoustic sessions and if I did use it more, I can't get the action right. But listening to Lucille throughout my adult life? Well, you just have to have one and be nearer to thee my idol. Not often I feel emotional about the demise of my musical heros but with BB I'll make an exception. |

15 May 15 - 09:27 AM (#3709044) Subject: RE: Obit: BB King (1925-2015) From: fat B****rd I've never been a big fan of Mr. King but, one December 1966 evening as I worked late in an office on Grimsby Docks I had my little transistor radio playing. The pirate station man announced "Night Life" by B.B. King and I stopped work and gazed over the dock lights while I listened. This may be long-winded but that song and that sound can take me right back to that long ago night and exactly how I was feeling at the time. RIP Mr. King you were truly something. Charlie |

15 May 15 - 07:41 PM (#3709163) Subject: RE: Obit: BB King (1925-2015) From: Janie Looking for a recording by him of Save a Seat for Me. Not the recording on BB King Sings Spirituals. The recording I am looking for was a segment, not the whole recording, and was a lovely guitar solo. May have been a live recording, and may have been one of the many - no vocals - may have been from live recordings that were not released on albums of him playing with other notable musicians at live performances. And was only a clip - probably 30 seconds, that played the article out. Apparently not on youtube, but I did hear part of it on NPR today while driving. Have cruised the podcasts of shows on during the lengthy but chopped up times I was in the car, but have not found it. Any help welcomed. |
