Lyr Add: The Donut Song - name that tune

Here's a song we're including in the upcoming Rise Again songbook:

DONUT SONG

Well I walked around the corner & I walked around the block
I walked right into a donut shop
And I picked up a donut & I licked off the grease
I handed the lady my 5 cent piece
Well she looked at my nickel & she looked at me
She said "This nickel is no good for me
There's a hole in the middle & it goes right thru"
I said "Lady, there's a hole in the donut too!
But thanks for the donut - toodle-oo"
D - / - A / D - / D AD  D AD

——trad. (US - m: "Turkey in the Straw")

The usual tune is "Turkey in the Straw," as in these recordings:

Can't say I like the third one.

But I found a recording of the song on Spotify with a very familiar tune that I can't identify. What comes to my mind is a song that might have the title "dah dah on Parade" (but what word goes to the dah dah?)

Here's the Spotify URL for the recording in question. The singer is Steven Richard Lindholm, but what's the tune?

Only donut song I can think of Joe, is one on a Burl Ives CD Jeri sent me a few years ago. here. not the one you want though.

I know "Turkeys in The Straw" tune but I'm not getting past "Old Zip Coon".

Your last link isn't working for me.

Yes, very familiar tune. I'm thinking anything from a Strauss polka to a Sousa march, but I may be way out!

This YouTube calls it
Nutcracker, March of the Toy Soldiers
but other yt videos and Spotify have different tunes when I google that.
Maybe there are different scenes?

No, not that one: I also thought of that, but not the same . Might be something else from the Nutcracker though? Radetzky March, also no!

Leon Jesell ...tin soldiers

wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Parade_of_the_Tin_Soldiers
but go there and search for 'Swarbrick'. That's probably why it feels so familiar!
Fairport Convention's Dave Swarbrick uses the main melody as one part of the medley ""Royal Seleccion No 13" on their album The Bonny Bunch of Roses, where it is titled 'Toytown March'. The band used the medley as their set opener on more than one tour.

"Parade of the Tin Soldiers" is the original name for Jessel's piece, but for some reason, it was subsequently called "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers". It is often confused with another equally familiar melody called "March of the Toys" from Victor Herbert's "Babes in Toyland", which, adding to the confusion, was made into a Laurel and Hardy film and then reissued as "The March of the Wooden Soldiers".

No, not that one: I thought about that too, but not the same thing. Might the Nutcracker be anything else though? Radetzky March, no, anyway!
