Obit: Deep Thanks from the Thieme Family

Where to begin. You, Mudcaters, kept my father, Art Thieme, going. When his hands could no longer hold a guitar, they kept busily contributing his humor and knowledge to this wonderful archive. The feedback and responses let him know that despite the physical isolation imposed by the disease, his mind, soul and heart still had a way to connect. Through not one but two computers this community gave him the tools to keep that connection. For this, the Thieme family will be forever grateful. For your kindness, your humor, your love, even as many of you were going through pains beyond measure, we thank you. We will always consider you part of our family. For those now passed, like Kat LaFrance and so many others, you will live in our hearts as he does. His grandchildren will know the love you gave.
Thank you,
Chris (C.T.) Thieme

Best of all, Art inflicted his humor on us, a constant onslaught that lasted for years....and we all were very willing victims. Makes me laugh just to think of it.

Indeed, I echo the above posts. Every time I saw a post was from Art, it brought a smile to my face... I knew I was in for a treat and I was seldom, if ever, disappointed. Simply put, Art was a treasure and one I will not forget.

My sincerest condolences to you, Chris, and all of Art's family and his family at Mudcat, in which I was the better for being able to call Art a friend.

RIP, Art... and... thank you.

So sorry to hear that Art is gone. When I first came to this forum in 1999, Art told a story about the tuba player who suffered a terrible accident when he was caught in a high wind and was screwed into the ground. I immediately liked his goofy and irreverent sense of humor, and his stories about his days in coffee shops and on the road. He got tired once with all the non-music bs that was going on in the forum, and he started the famous "What Kind of Condom do Mudcatters Wear?" thread, which was the first really big thread in the forum and one of the funniest. He will be remembered for that great voice and those great stories.
