Australian Man Gets Too Close to a Bison

BS: I read an article in today's paper, June 03, 2015 about an Australian man getting too close to a bison as a tourist at Yellowstone National Park. Article said man was seriously injured after he apparently underestimated how quickly the animal can move.

In the article it said that the bison tossed a 62 year old Australian man several times into the air. The unidentified man was hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Park officials said several people had crowded the bison as it lay
on the grass near a paved sidewalk not far from the famous Old Faithful geyser.

"The bison was already getting agitated." Yellowstone spokeswoman Amy Bartlett said, when the man stepped forward and snapped photos with an electronic notepad just three to five feet away from the animal.

Park officials recommend getting no closer to a bison than 25 yards.

When the bison charged, the victim could not escape. Bison can weigh as much as a small car and run three times faster than a person.

Geez, how stupid can this guy be to try and take a photo just three to five feet away with some tech gadget!

I am sorry he had to get injured but come on, signs were there about not getting closer then 25 yards!
I actually feel sorry for the bison with people trying to close in on him and crowd him - and not leave him alone by keeping their distance!
How intrusive to this animal to stand there with some electronic notepad so close to his face! I don't even know what these electronic notepads are - I just own a regular 35 MM camera and not into these latest tech things but I would never think to be so intrusive to an animal by standing so close to get it's picture!

He's lucky he didn't make the Darwin Awards. When he gets out of hospital I suppose he'll be hand feeding bears while taking a selfie. Stay tuned.

An Aussie too close to a bison
(You must know he had been forewarned)
The bison got nervous and fed up
So he gave the poor Aussie the horn

I'm a wiseguy from Australiaaa,
A badass Aussie guy.
I've run and jumped and dived and swam
But I never thought I'd fly
But when I came to Yellowstone
A-flying I did go
Hoisted up into the atmosphere
By the horns
Of a buffalooo.

(To the appropriate tune of "Buffalo Skinners")

Then there's the American woman killed photographing a lion in South Africa. She photographed her own demise.

I posted the first message. Meant to have it posted in the BS section but I think I typed the BS in the wrong place (at the beginning of my post instead of on the Subject Line.)
To Narrator: Please place this thread under the BS section if possible as of course this is not music related.

Thank you,
Bonnie
