Lyr Req: Rolf Harris's Jail Song

In the interests of keeping Mudcat supplied with tasteful family entertainment, has anybody got the full lyrics of Sir Rolf's new song? I've seen one verse quoted today on the front page of a tabloid I have no intention of spending money on.

Isn't that what all songwriters do, write about what they feel?

Can someone recommend a link where a Yank might find a one-stop précis of the Rolf Harris Scandal?

Harris' woodworm jibe

Climb up out of the woodwork babe
From forty years ago,
The climate’s great in Britain now
For making loads of dough
You’ve festered down there long enough,
Time’s right to grab your chance
Clap eyes on a rich celebrity
And make the bastard dance

Chorus

Make him squirm, slimy little woodworm
Make him squirm, squirm, squirm
Sink your claws right in to the hilt, don’t let him go
(Group) NO! NO!
Make him burn, burn, burn
Slimy little woodworm, make him burn
Get your fifty-years-old hooks into his dough
(Group) GO BABY GO

That old bandwagon you crawled out of
(rotten to the core)
Conceals a host of foul accusers,
Twenty maybe more
My guess is they’ll slide after you
All following your stench,
Perhaps you believe you’re pretty still
Some perfumed sultry wench

Chorus

“Make him squirm”
I can hear you singing
“Make him squirm, squirm, squirm”
Just imagine all of the money waiting there
(Group) OH YEAH!
Make him burn, burn, burn
Come and join the feeding frenzy girls,
Don’t miss out, come on and join me for your share
(Group) PUT IT THERE!

Words transcribed and added to post in case the link is not durable. Placement of the words in the discussion is only for the record and implies no opinion for or against the writer of the song. --mudelf

I am currently on a bus and I see it's in today's Metro (didn't expect that, prisoners' writings are usually tightly controlled in the UK).

I don't see pub singers getting many requests for it, but I'll copy it here when I get near a real computer. It wouldn't be the first poisonously malignant song to get on a public archive.

Errrmmm... it is a Protest Song.. and convicted paedo Rolf is very old and has a beard...

..so that might make it at least a bit folkie relevant enough for mudcat...????? 😬

In my young day you couldn't get ANYTHING in / out of prison that wasn't heavily vetted. A pal was in an open prison over Xmas once and a few of us did him an Annual of puerile yarns which was withheld by the authorities as being a SUBVERSIVE OCCULT DEVIL WORSHIP MAGAZINE. Same with anything coming out.

So what are the chances of this being a genuine piece of Rolflore? Remote I'd say.

I don't think the "friend" who smuggled that out was doing Sir Rolf any favours. (As if it wasn't bad enough already, he wants it sung as a country number).

Meanwhile, the reply by his victim Wendy Wild, as quoted in The Daily Mail:

You chose me, remember, 40 years ago, you put your dirty hands on me and have not let me go.

Now you are complaining through the papers, whingeing you are innocent, from your cushy jail. I still live with the nightmare of your dirty act while all you seem to care about is your millions staying intact.

Threats from you don't seem to stop and continue to be said, private investigators watching me, fill my heart with dread.

All of this has taken its toll and it's me that's had to squirm.

Just when I thought you could get no lower, you say I am a worm.

If you think your latest song will make you another hit, you're wrong.

You're just a sex offender. Now put that in a song and sing it.

I think that about wraps it up. I wouldn't mind seeing this thread locked now. I didn't expect it to be so easy.
