At the Essex Sound and Video Archive, we have a recording from the festival that was made in a church hall. Does anyone know which church hall was used? I understand the festival was peripatetic; was this the only year it was held in Billericay? Any information would be gratefully received. |

22 Jul 15 - 01:08 PM (#3725450) Subject: RE: Help: Billericay Folk Festival 1983 From: GUEST,Peter That would have been Folk East (not to be confused with the 21st century festival FolkEast) which was organised in a rota by the various districts of the Eastern Region of EFDSS. The sucessor to Essex District, which organised that festival, is the Essex Folk Association. Billericay had, at that time, quite a few small halls and other venues suitable for festival events and Folk East used most of them during the day. |

I should have narrowed it down to say the recording is of a performance by the Dead Sea Surfers. I've been in touch with one of the band members, who doesn't remember where it was, but perhaps someone remembers being in the audience? I'll follow up the suggestions above anyway. |
