11 Aug 15 - 11:13 AM (#3729600) Subject: Tech: Windows8 compatibility for Evolution Aud From: asirovedout I've been using a freebie copy of the Evolution Audio-Lite midi editor/sequencer almost every day for 15 years. Under Windows7 and earlier systems it runs in what appears to be a Window3.1 window, and I now find that it won't install on a 64bit Windows 8 laptop. I use it for learning, arranging & playing song tunes, and I prefer its mouse&piano-roll user interface rather than a score&keyboard-based program. I'd like to continue using this program because it's so familiar, and because if I migrate to a different program I'll be forced to re-save over 600 ".SNG" files as ".MID" files (probably losing some of the info), and saving the accompanying text in separate files. Any ideas where I might obtain a Windows8-compatible version (which I'd be willing to pay for if it was the full program), or a very similar product? Thanks for reading this @ |
12 Aug 15 - 07:01 AM (#3729770) Subject: RE: Tech: Windows8 compatibility for Evolution Audio-L From: treewind Does Windows 8 let you run a Virtual XP machine that would have the windows compatibility you need? Or try installing Windows XP or earlier on a Virtualbox (free of charge) Virtual machine hosted on Windows 8? |

I don't have regular access to a Windows8 machine yet, so I'm still looking around for feasible solutions. A virtual XP machine would be ideal. Thanks, Bob |

The OP was going from Win7 to Win8; what a tangle of operating systems. |
