From: GUEST,Gilbert Ryan Adcock

Hello! My name is Gilbert Ryan Adcock and I'm a Mississippi-based singer-songwriter. I'm about to release an EP of original songs and I would like to receive some honest reviews once its release. This is not a sales pitch - just looking for some honest thoughts!

Thanks,
Gilbert Ryan Adcock
Philadelphia, Mississippi

Great-looking Website, Gilbert, but I couldn't find any samples of music.

I'm still in the process of recording, so I haven't set a date yet. And Joe here are some demo's I uploaded to SoundCloud...

And thanks for the nice comment concerning my website! It's still a work in progress!

I prefer content to good-looking, Joe. As of now, this website is useless.

I have to agree with Reihard - there is no content. It isn't ready for prime time. Scrolling down over photos with no gaps between, only to squint at light text centered on the page, doesn't work for me. Take some time to research web site design and take the page down until you have actual content. You aren't doing yourself any good right now displaying an empty box. In my opinion, of course (as the designer of many web pages).

And what is an EP?

Acme (from Wikisomethingorother): An EP (short for extended play) is a musical recording that contains more music than a single, but is usually too short to qualify as a full studio album or LP.

I appreciate the replies, however, I feel my original post has been lost in the mix. First, I was looking for some people who would honestly review my music once it's released. Secondly, its very clear my website is currently being build. Once I have some tracks mastered I will be uploading samples.
Acme, I'm open to view your work if you have samples... It may help me to see where I'm falling short in design department.

Thanks,
Gilbert Ryan Adcock

Your best bet is not to look at what I have done, but to look around at other sites that work for you and see how you can incorporate those elements. Redundancy is a good thing on a website because people have lots of different ways of searching. And the question about EP was to point out that you need to spell out at least once what anything means if you use an acronym. Okay, CD, DVD, those are understood. But this isn't one of those.

Thanks Acme! Website design is a new venture for me - a very headache inducing venture!

All the best,

Surely most people aware of music of any type who have ever considered buying an album would know what "EP" meant? Isn't that lesson one? Is there anyone reading this who genuinely didn't know what it meant / implied.

I wouldn't bother explaining what an EP was. I fear you'd come across as condescending and - frankly - a bit simple.

Or maybe I'm wrong. I wonder if Kanye West explained to his fan base what an EP was when he released his first EP? Or if Cliff Richard did? They're the two to look to for this devilish decision.

Yes, CJ. I didn't know. Are you suggesting it shouldn't be spelled out, because all customers will already know everything? Use the term once, then use the initials. It isn't rocket science.

It all depends on how one buys music, doesn't it? I obviously don't shop for music online enough to know EP yet I have an extensive collection - old LPs and CDs (and cassettes and reel-to-reel . . . ). Digital picked up through Amazon, where I don't see EP because I buy digital versions of discs. And I'm never going to go shopping for music from Kanye West. The point is, be kind to your customers. Don't assume they know everything, so spell out or visually represent your offering so they know how many songs are available. Keep this in mind if you want to bring new customers to your site who haven't shopped this way much before.

Acme, methinks you're showing your age if you don't know what an EP is - and I suspect I am quite a bit older than you are.... ;-)

Gilbert, I listened to your Soundcloud samples, and I like them. I think the vocals would work better on "Goodbye" if they were clearer. Part of that's diction, and part is recording technique.

And I don't care what those other guys say - there are some terrific photos on your Website.
