There is an interesting WIKI article, and a comprehensive discography by WIRZ which have come to my attention. An interesting performer whose work never caught my attention.

Judy Roderick WIKI

Judy Roderick discography (Wirz)

Anyone have any comments about her work, comparisons to other
white women blues performers, etc. ??

Thanks! Thomas.

Only that I used to love her singing, back in the day. Haven't had time to read these interesting-sounding links yet (I'm not even s'posed to be here... should be working) but will as soon as I can.

She had an amazing voice, and I'd always wondered what became of her - she never seemed to attain the recognition she should have had, when the other assorted Judys and JuDees and Joans and Jonis reigned.

Allmusic says that her last recordings were on a privately released cassette and featured Mac Rebennack (a.k.a. Dr. John) on several tracks. What an incredible combo of talents that would make. Sure wish her career had taken off -

OK, going to work now. No, I am... really... I mean it, you guys...

I got to know Judy whenI lived in Missoula, Montana. Her partner was Dexter Payne who played reeds with The Big Sky Mudflaps, and Judy would sing with them. A lovely woman, and a great singer.

I came across a Judy Roderick LP back in the 80's. I'd never heard of her but she quickly became a favorite. It's a shame she never achieved the level of success her talent merited but perhaps there were other things that got in the way. I loved her voice and delivery.

Does anyone know the recording or release DATE of the
Music Minus One "FAVORITE FOLK SONGS FOR GUITAR" LP album
with Harry Tuft and Dick Weissman (sometime late 60's) ???

The CD appears to be from 1996

Can anyone identify the singers on each track ??

She sings lead or duet vocals on the following tracks
4 Oh, Mary Don't You Weep                2:15 JR
5 I Know Where I'm Going                1:51 JR
6 East Virginia                         3:31 JR
7 The Cukoo                              2:12 JR
13 Banks of the Ohio                      4:14 JR

I can't tell if she is on chorus in any other tracks.

Thanks!
Best wishes, Thomas.

Thomas, I haven't found that information yet, but the thought occurred to me that you might want to email Dick Weissman and ask if he remembers the release year and who the other performers were. His contact information is at the bottom of the page, here: http://www.dickweissman.com/music/music.html
