ON BBC RADIO 3 LISTEN AGAIN,
Andrew McGregor presents tonight's Free Thinking edition of World on 3 in front of an audience at Sage Gateshead with live music from American folk legend Peggy Seeger, one of Britain's foremost a cappella groups The Wilson Family, and BBC Introducing talent Project Jam Sandwich, an instrumental five-piece with influences from Bulgaria to South Africa via Scotland. Plus some of the latest new releases on disc from around the world.

Well I am really pleased that I did not bother to stay up into the wee small hours to listen, 75 % World Music and a bit of the wonderful Wilson's

I think that's why they call it World on 3! Always unmissable in my opinion - not heard this one yet but looking forward to it

I heard it but was disappointed. I didn't enjoy any of Peggy Seeger's stuff, and the Wilsons were doing their best-known crowd-pleasers, which was kind of OK but nothing I hadn't heard before.

The Wilson family sang songs that related to the area,in my opinion they were very good.

I thought that the emphasis was on "Freethinking " not World music

Anything on the BBC labelled 'free-thinking' these days is a misnomer.
'Propaganda' would be closer to the mark, IMO.

Sol,

The fact that your opinion is utter shite, needs to be taken into account...

I enjoyed the programme, though it wasn't as trailed, which was mainly Pegger Seeger and the Wilsons.

Only three songs from Peggy. Do they always have to get her to sing 'The first time ...'?

The Wilsons were best, I thought.

Always good to hear Mariza.

Below is how it is billed on the Radio 3 website. It is part of the Free Thinking strand which is a series of programmes broadcast from the Sage, Gateshead. Project Jam Sandwich who did a couple of superb sets at Musicport are also featured so I am still looking forward to hearing it despite the negative comments - especially if Mariza is also on the programme - one of the most beautiful voices on the planet!
