Thought for the day - December 4th-99

Since our early years, we have learned that age is a state of mind - and that sometimes we are several ages all at one time. The number of years we have lived menas nothing. Some never achieve poise and wisdom. Some seem to be born with it. No one cares how old we are if we are projecting something worthwhile that defies age. When we are comfortbale with ourselves it reflects agelessness that only grows better with the years. Age, the Cherokee believes, includes the many stages of life to measure wisdom. If our minds are kept flexible, our bodies will be lithe and easy - and if our thoughts are rigid, our bodies will reflect it. We either grow and mature beautifully or we lose our flavor - like rare spices left in the wind.

"These people who want to go there will get old pretty soon." Tooklanni

Great passage to start my morning off MamaKatSW, thank you.
Yet I wonder.............
As I grow older, I do feel a sense of agelessness but I must admit, if I don't go to the gym I'm stiff as a board. Although, I can appreciate the idea that a flexable body reflects an open mind.

I wonder if it's possible to work on this concept backwards. For instance, learning yoga. By opening areas of your body that have never been exposed to oxygen and movement, it could be possible to relate these physical areas to other closed areas of expression in one's life.

Maybe that's why I have no problem doing 'the splits'.

Kind of a "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now" huh Bob??? Yeah, I like that thought myself.

Nice post Kat. We're doing the Christmas decorating now and the boys (no, not Cletus etc.) are at the "perfect" age for the season...and this year their infectious enthusiasm makes both Karen and I feel so good! We're trying to make this one a little more special...there are too few years when it will be like this for them, and us too. But young? Yeah, it sure gives me a boost.

And now, lest his fans think I only rag Peter T........Every time I hear one of these younger as older things, I think of Groucho's wordplay on "Your only as young as you feel." The Groucho version was a bit better.

"I heard it that you're only as young as the women you feel...In which case I'm 107."

But Katmyluv, since you're feeling what, say 19 or 20; well that sounds young enough to me. Shall we meet in Omaha for my youthful regenerative "feeling?"

AND BONNIE - How can you give me such a pair of lines? I mean really? This is "Incredibly Shallow and Generally Obnoxious" (and always scatological) old Catspaw! As Jeri said, I pounce on this stuff like a "Rock Star on a Supermodel." So...........

Personally BB, I enjoy being stiff as a board so if you want to do the splits, maybe we can "heighten" my enjoyment, so to speak.

Spaw --gawd, I have no shame............

Catspaw, I must admit, that was pretty funny.

I'd hate to start editing my thoughts just because you'll end up pouncing on me. See, there I go again.
Last night I set myself up on the wrist pain thread.

Is it your 'one track mind' that gives you such a style?

Actually Catspaw, it was the New Instrument Hand Problems Thread.
Now that title alone must be good enough for you to take a poke at without me contributing, no?

Sorry, I lost ALL my tracks when 8-tracks went out of fashion. That's why the shallowness of my mind is so comforting. Since there is no track, I'm not bothered by not having one.
