Tune Req: Mrs. Madison's Waltz

Anyone know where we can hear Mrs. Madison's Waltz? Or even better, see the sheet music?

This piece was apparently written for Dolley Madison around 1810 and an internet search gave several different authors. We heard the tune on the radio and would like to investigate it a little further - maybe even use this tune for a future song.

I don't know how to listen, but if you check at 49:20, that may be it.

YOu can find the sheet music at the Lester Levy site. Search for Mrs. Madison's Waltz.

composers are J. and M. Paff

It's nice to hear from somebody else who enjoys finding and playing old music. I am working on The Sunnyside Waltz (named for the home of Washington Irving) right now.

A big thanks to both of you.

If we had remembered that we heard the tune on "A Prairie Home Companion" we could have found it that way but, alas, we didn't. We were able to hear it there.

Leeneia, we searched on Google but the Levy site did not show up. However, we should have thought of looking there since that is a great collection of nineteenth century (and other periods as well) popular music.
